The word 3G means third generation. It's a wireless technology which comes with enhancements involving high-speed transmission, multimedia access and global roaming. 3G is mostly used with mobile phones for connecting to the Internet which solves for making video calls, downloading as well as uploading data from the net.
3G has features like many times higher data speed as compared to other networks, improvised audio and video streaming, enabling video-conferencing support etc. For owning a 3G network one requires a mobile that is 3G friendly. 3G phones have two cameras as the technology makes it possible for the user to have video calls, which requires a user-facing camera. Wi-Fi is available for free in some places but, to get a3G network connectivity, one need to subscribe to the service provider.
