3G Mobile Telephony in India

A panel discussion in New Delhi, India called Mobile Conversations 2011 convened to discuss the effect of 3G mobile technology on various industry players, including marketers, carriers, consumers and manufacturers.

The theme of the session was on aligning the mobile technology environment in India to facilitate better scaling and use of 3G technology. The director of Seedfund set the agenda, as he highlighted several components of mobile marketing to a panel which consisted primarily of telecom industry executives. They started off with a discussion of the statistics, which show a huge potential for the Indian 3G mobile phone market that has yet to be developed. Current trends show that more than half of the new mobile phones being sold in India are now smartphones, which means that the data service model should grow rapidly within the country.
